The Ottawa school board has chosen a member of the community to fill the remainder of Britani Potter’s term.
Julie Dandreo was chosen in a unanimous vote by board members at a special meeting June 29 to complete the term, which ends Jan. 13, 2020. Brian Kane, school board president, said there is no official application process, but those interested submitted a letter of interest.
Four candidates submitted letters for the position, all of whom were interviewed during the meeting.
Potter plans to move to Arizona with her family, she said.
The board is now looking to fill the position of Bill Allegre, who also recently resigned. Allegre, current board member and former president of the board, is moving outside the school district’s boundaries. His term ends in January 2018. Interested persons should submit a letter of interest by noon July 13 to Melissa Horne, administrative assistant to the superintendent, via email at firstname.lastname@example.org
At 7 p.m. Monday, the school board will recognize Potter for two years of service during its regular meeting. The board will also recognize Allegre for 13 years of service.
Also on Monday, the board will elect a new president for the upcoming 2017-18 year.
