1 WHO LET THE DOGS OUT? — End the summer by jumping into the Forest Park Pool with your pup by your side. From 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Monday, the local pool, 310 N. Locust St., Ottawa, will be open for dogs and humans during its annual Pooch Plunge event. Cost is $5 per dog, and humans are free. Animals must remain on leashes, and one dog per person is admitted. No lifeguards will be on duty, and children under the age of 16 must be accompanied by an adult. Rabies tags or copies of vaccination certificates must be shown. 2 RANSOM 5K/10K — If you’re looking to get up and active this weekend, join in on the eighth annual Ransom 5K and 10K Run/Walk. Registration takes place 7 a.m. to 7:45 a.m. Saturday at Kanza Park, 200 W. 13th St., Ottawa. Races begin at 8 a.m. Participants can register ahead of time at www.ransom.org/ransomrun/.
