Ottawa’s school board plans to appoint a new member at its Monday meeting.

Three candidates have indicated they are interested in the board position vacated by Bill Allegre, a former school board member and president. The candidates are Cassie Myers, Diana Staresinic-Deane, and Melissa Pippin, according to school board documents.

The selected candidate would fill the rest of Allegre’s term, which expires January 2018.

Allegre’s resignation followed that of Britani Potter, former school board member and candidate for U.S. Representative. Both resignations were related to moves outside of the district’s boundaries. Julie Dandreo was chosen in a unanimous vote by board members in June to complete Potter’s term, which ends Jan. 13, 2020.
