The Marais des Cygnes Regional Advisory Committee and the Kansas Water Office (KWO) plan to host a special meeting regarding the state of the area’s water resources.
The meeting is set for Dec. 6, starting at 11 a.m., at the Paola Town Square, 15 W. Wea St, Paola. The event will begin with presentations covering various aspects of water quantity and quality, with time for questions at the end, according to a new release.
The State of Our Resources series is designed to share current status of the resources, background information as well as what issues need to be addressed. The regional advistory committee includes Franklin County and all or parts of several other counties in the region.
Those who plan to attend are asked to RSVP the Kansas Water Office no later than Wednesday.
Lunch, sponsored by the Hillsdale Area Water Cooperative, will be provided and catered by the Paola Town Square.

As the state’s water office, KWO conducts water planning, policy coordination and water marketing as well as facilitates public input throughout the state, according to the news release.
The agency prepares the Kansas Water Plan — a plan for water resources development, management and conservation, the release said. KWO also reviews all water laws and makes recommendations to the governor and state Legislature for needed legislation, according to the release.
