Walnut St., Ottawa, for a discussion sponsored by Ottawa Library. See how these professionals are making a difference and how you can do your part to help them. Discussion themes go hand-in-hand with the library’s O-Town Community Read, The Other Wes Moore: One Name, Two Fates, by author Wes Moore. The event is free and open to the public. 2 FATHER DAUGHTER DANCE — Daughters are welcome to bring their dads, grandpas or uncles to a Community Father Daughter Dance 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Saturday at the Washburn Towers Civic Room, 506 S. Main St., Ottawa. Tickets are a $20 donation per “couple” and $5 per additional child. No registration is necessary in order to attend.

3 HOME SWEET HOME — Ottawa prep and college basketball teams will enjoy the friendly confines of their home courts this weekend. Ottawa High School entertains Louisburg Friday night, with the girls’ varsity game slated for 6 p.m. and the boys take the court about 7:30 p.m. at OHS, 1120 S. Ash St., Ottawa. On Saturday, the Ottawa University women will take on Southwestern College at 3 p.m. in Wilson Field House on the OU campus, 1001 S. Cedar St., Ottawa. The men’s game is slated for 5 p.m.
