Funeral services took place Wednesday for Franklin County Appraiser Philip Dudley and his wife Sue. Both were found dead in their Osawatomie home on March 8.
Osawatomie city officials said the cause of death has not been determined and they don’t expect to announce anything for a couple of weeks. The deaths are still under investigation.
Franklin County Administrator Derek Brown said deputy appraiser Jamie Wilson will be assuming the appraiser’s duties on an interim basis and the county will begin to search for a successor.
Dudley served as Franklin County appraiser since June 2009. He had previously worked as a property appraiser for the State of Kansas and worked in the Johnson County Appraiser’s Office from 1996 until taking the Franklin County position. In addition he served on the Osawatomie City Council for four years and was elected to three terms as mayor beginning in 2007.
