The Ottawa Area Chamber of Commerce is looking to revive an old tradition of having a citywide July Fourth celebration, John Coen, Chamber President and CEO, said.
Beginning next year, the Chamber’s Events and Promotions Committee will organize the event with a vision of recreating the Ottawa Chautauqua Days of the 1960s and 1970s, Coen said.
“We hope to resurrect this community celebration to the great festivity it was when the Ottawa Jaycees originally organized the event,” he said. “The original organizers have kept the annual local firework display going even though the Jaycees no longer meet.”
Those who want to be involved with the organization of this celebration, or make a financial contribution to support the event, can call the Chamber (785) 242-1000.
