Work is underway on the project to prepare two water line crossings at First and Main streets. The intersection is currently closed and a detour was established routing traffic around the area using K-68 and Second Street.
With rain in the forecast, officials said work may stop if significant rain falls. In that event, the intersection will be open until the weather clears up. When work resumes, only the south side of First and Main should be affected, and the Main Street Bridge and most of First Street is expected to be accessible, according to city officials.
This is weather dependent and if significant rains fail to materialize, the original plan will be followed, according to the city. The project is expected to take 165 working days to complete.
