The West Franklin High School’s Madison Shotton was the school’s first ever Family, Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) state officer. Shotton led the Kansas meetings at the 2018 National Leadership Conference in Atlanta, Georgia that began on June 30 and ended on July 4.

The theme of “Inspired” was given by keynote speaker Dan Cathy, CEO of Chick-fil-A. A team of Ally Hutchison, Sami Randall and Alex Coopman were recognized as 8th in the nation for their “Dive into FCCLA” portfolio about FCCLA promotion. An occupational team of Emery Snook and Katelyn Crumley took 3rd place in the nation with their “Up, Up and Away with FCCLA” portfolio and ten minute oral presentation.
