Today's installment of Throwback Thursday takes us to the Southeast corner of Second Avenue and Monroe Streets. The building at 419 W. 2nd was constructed in 1948 as the Farmers' Friend Cable Hoist Co. Inc. The first photo shows that business in the winter of 1949. That business didn't last long there. In 1954, it became the Arley Boyer Motors Nash dealership.

That enterprise continued there until 1965 when it became the Jack Anshutz Used Cars. In 1968, it was J&H Wholesale Used Cars. In 1969 and 1970 it was the Guardian Transmission Repair. From 1973 to 1982 it was part of the Hartman Mfg. group. In 1982, it was Midwestern Mirror & Glass. Jim's Water & Woods started at 7 E. Sherman but remodeled the 419 W. 2nd building in 1985 and moved there. Jim Peterson continued here until May of 2017, selling the business to Brandon Hoffman. The second photo shows the Jim's Water & Woods business today, still going strong at 419 W. 2nd, with Jim Peterson still owning the property.
