Opening morning turnout at Reno County’s early voting site was described by a poll worker as “awesome.”

“To me, it’s more like a presidential election,” said election board worker Linda Gunther.

As of 1:50 p.m. Monday, 244 voters had visited the conference room by the Reno County Clerk’s office in the Reno County Courthouse Annex, 125 West 1st Ave., to cast a general election ballot.

Voter Linda Phipps said she doesn’t like the lines on Election Day, and early voting enables her to vote on a day when she’s not busy. Another voter, Debra Phillips, said she also prefers to vote early to avoid being caught in a line on Election Day.

Delinda Collman uses a wheelchair and she takes advantage of the early voting site because of her disability.

Reno County Courthouse Annex: 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays until closing at noon Monday, Nov. 5. Also, it will be open from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 27, and on Saturday, Nov. 3.
Hutchinson Community College’s Parker Student Union, in the Blue Dragon Room: 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 24.
Wesley Towers chapel: 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 25.
