Anyone who deposited items in the City Hall parking lot kiosk between 1 p.m. July 12 and noon on July 13, should contact the Ottawa Police Department.

The kiosk was broke into and since the initial report personal checks stolen from the kiosk have been passed or used outside of Ottawa. Anyone who deposited items in the kiosk should notiy their bank or financial institution about the potential theft and monitor their personal information closely, police said.

“It is important for anyone who believes their bank or personal information may have been taken from the kiosk [should] contact officer Carson Leslie so she can follow up and identify those responsible for the theft and damage,” Adam Weingartner, Ottawa Police Chief, said. “The department will cooridinate with other law enforcement agencies were stolen checks may have been passed. Several checks have been passed in the Johnson County, Kansas area.”
