Starting Saturday, there are plenty of ways to get in the Halloween spirit in Ottawa.
Leading off the festivities is the annual Halloween on Main Street event, which is scheduled from 10 a.m. to noon. A costume contest at Haley Park gets the party started, with several age divisions for children, including infants and 1-year-olds, 2-4 year olds, kindergarten-second grade and third-fifth grade. The costume contest is sponsored by Royal Cleaners.
Following the competition, children can trick or treat at various businesses along Main Street. Participating businesses will post signs for easy identification.
The annual event is hosted by the Ottawa Main Street Association.
On Sunday, a Trunk R’ Treat event is planned from 4-6 p.m. at North Baptist Church, 413 E. Wilson.
And on Halloween, there are plenty of ways to scare up some fun.
The Gun Guys’ annual Zombie Shoot is planned from 4-8 p.m. at 412 S. Main St. There is an entry fee, with proceeds being donated to charity. For more information, contact the Gun Guys at 785-418-0711 or look for details on Facebook.
