James “Jim” Russell Conard, 75, passed away June 29, 2017, at his home in Gardner, Kansas.
Funeral services are planned for 11 a.m. Aug. 5, 2017, at the United Methodist Church in Larned, Kansas.
Jim was born Aug. 27, 1941, to Russell Keast and Lucille Dryden Conard in Great Bend, Kansas. He graduated from Larned High School and became a Journey Lineman. He was a 50-year member of IBEW Local 53. In 1996, Jim was Transportation Manager for USD 495 in Larned, Kansas, when he met his future wife Pauline Yohn Mead.
Jim loved his family and loved traveling to turn the lights back on for those affected by storms throughout the United States. Jim was a member of the National Guard, a Mason and Fenton Finders of Greater Kansas City. He was adventurous and a jack of all trades, with many interests such as collecting Coca Cola Polar Bears and unique windup toys and teaching Sunday School classes. Jim’s wisdom, humor and storytelling will be greatly missed.
Jim is survived by his wife, Pauline; sisters, Karen(Bart) Brannam of Burke, Virginia, and Rosa (Bruce) Wilson of LaCrosse; children: Timothy (Kim) Conard of Ottawa, Kimberly (Bruce) Booten of Pomona, Jade (Kathy) Conard of Salina; step-children: Rachelle(Matt) Shoemake of Alabama, Troy (Melissa) Mead of Larned, Jason (Jennifer) Mead of Larned; 13 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Connie Baier, and infant daughter, Tambi Lynn Conard.
