Margaret Irene Flummerfelt, 97, passed away July 7, 2017, at St. Charles Hospital, Prineville, Oregon.

A memorial service will be 11 a.m. July 15, 2017, at Prineville Funeral Home.

Margaret was born Aug. 27, 1919, in Kearney County, to Maggie (Anderson) and Christian Peter Kiistner.

She graduated from Ulysses (Kansas) High School in 1937, and later married Ross Edward Flummerfelt in 1938 in Ulysses.

Margaret worked as a doctor’s assistant for 33 years at Hugoton Medical Center, Hugoton, Kansas, from 1955 to 1988.

Ross and Margaret Flummerfelt were active members of The Order of Eastern Star in Hugoton, and Margaret was an active member of the Hugoton Christian Church.

Margaret was an avid fisherman. She enjoyed reading, and also was a china painter and taught lessons.

After retiring, Margaret enjoyed touring with a senior travel group.

She is survived by James Edward Flummerfelt, Mary Ellen Cochran, four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ross Flummerfelt, in 1986.
