James Steven “Steve” Middleton, 75, Russell, formerly of Tulsa, Okla., Rose Hill, Emporia and Dodge City, died Tuesday, Oct. 24, 2017, at his home.

He was born Sept. 13, 1942, in Wellington to James W. and Ruth P. (Holder) Middleton. He was a 1960 graduate of Wellington High School and attended Emporia State University.

He married Carol M. Faulkner on Sept. 13, 1967, in Wellington. He was a regulator for KCC Oil & Gas Division.

Survivors include his wife of 50 years, of the home; a son, Steven D. Middleton, Russell; a daughter, Cara S. Maier, Colorado Springs, Colo.; a sister, D. Sue Holdaway, Mira Mesa, Calif.; and five grandchildren.

A celebration of life will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at First Congregational Church, Russell; cremation has preceded the services.

Memorials are suggested to High Plains Humane Society or Russell County Recreational Center in care of Pohlman-Varner-Peeler Mortuary, Russell.
