George R. Freeman, 44, passed away at his home in Rio, Wisconsin, after a long battle with cancer on Dec. 31, 2017. George was born in Marriam, Kansas, on Oct. 15, 1973, to Lloyd R. and T. Irene Freeman. George grew up and graduated from high school in Lawrence, Kansas. He worked as a drywall hanger for most of his life. He tried the Alaskan fishing boat for a short period in the early 1990s and last year worked at O’Reilly’s in Columbus, Wisconsin. 

George married Melanie “Hunny Bee” Hartley on April 29, 2006. They have two boys Dominick J. and Quentin R.

Survivors include his wife, Melanie; sons, Dominick and Quentin; mother, Irene; sister, Dorothy (Jay) Heller; nephews, Timothy (Chrissy) and George “Trey”; four great-nieces, Rylie, Jayda, Tessa, and Macie; his father and mother-in-law, Joe and Dolly Hartley; brother-in-law, Tim (Meg); nephew and niece, Sam and Alli, numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his father Lloyd; grandparents, Ebb and Elizabeth Freeman, and Raymond and Dorothy Templin and a nephew Anthony “AJ” Heller.

Memorial Services will take place 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 13, 2018, with a time of fellowship to follow at the Ottawa Memorial Auditorium, Fourth and Hickory streets, Ottawa. Inurnment will be at Bonnet Prairie Cemetery at a later date.
