Fanny “Irene” Saile, 89, passed away Jan. 21, 2018, at Baldwin Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center.

Irene was born Sept. 26, 1928, in Lawrence, Kansas, the daughter of Hallie Olin Hale and Della M. (Flory) Hale. She grew up in the rural Baldwin City area eventually moving in 1977 to Pomona, Kansas, and living there most of her adult life until moving to Baldwin City in 2016.

Irene worked for a time at Lawrence Memorial Hospital as well as King Radio in Ottawa, Kansas.

On Oct. 20, 1949, Irene was united in marriage to Albert R. McNish. They later divorced. They had five sons, Robert McNish and his wife Cheryl of Topeka, Kansas, Dennis McNish of Lawrence, Kansas, Gary McNish (deceased) and his wife Lynne of Lawrence, Kansas, Randy McNish of Lawrence, Kansas, Billy McNish of rural Baldwin City; eight grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren.

Irene married Billy Ray Saile on Dec. 11, 1976. Billy preceded her in death on March 13, 2009. They were married for 32 happy years.

Irene is survived by two sisters as well as her children and grandchildren, Edith Sumner of Bakersfield, California, and Mary Roesler of Baldwin City.
