Mary Louise (Collins) Burgoon went to be with the Lord April 12, 2018, at the Wellsville Retirement Community. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, April 17, 2018, at Wilson’s Funeral Home in Wellsville. Visitation will be 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday, also at the funeral home. Interment will follow services in the Wellsville Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Legion Post 194 in care of Wilson’s, PO Box 486, Wellsville, KS 66092.
Louise was born April 29, 1934, to Lowell E. and Mary Ellen (Chilton) Collins in Wellsville, Kansas. Louise was a lifelong resident of Wellsville and attended Wellsville schools, graduating with the class of 1952. On Oct. 11, 1953, she married Billy D. Burgoon. They were united in marriage for 55 years. Louise worked for the Wellsville School District for 24 years as the elementary secretary; she retired in May of 1996.
Louise was an avid sports fan. She loved watching the Royals, Chiefs and her grandchildren compete. Her family was the most important part of her life and she enjoyed spending time with them. Louise will be greatly missed by all of them.
Survivors include her children, Diane Bonzo and Mary Ann Chambers of Wellsville and daughter-in-law Barbara Burgoon of Wellsville; 15 grandchildren, Angie Przybylo (Mickey) Wellsville, Jo Lynam (Evan) of Boise, ID, Joel Kracht (Ashley) Paola, Kelli Finch (Mike) Ottawa, Skyller Chambers (Heidi) Wellsville, Madison Chambers (Chase) of Olathe, Dustin Bonzo (Ellen) of Wichita and Darcy Bonzo Wellsville; 10 great-grandchildren; Brittany. Lexis, Jerzy, Mazzi, Colin, Quinna, Aidan, Raleigh, Lincoln and Jaeger. Louise was blessed with many nieces and nephews.
Louise was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son Roy Burgoon, brother Gerald Collins and sister Barbara Easdale.
