Madelyn I. Madden, 82, of Ottawa, Kansas, passed away Friday, July 6, 2018, at her home.

Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, July 12, 2018, at the Wellsville Baptist Church. Visitation will be 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday, July 11, 2018, at the Wellsville Baptist Church Family Center. Cremation will follow with interment at a later date in the Peoria Cemetery.

Madelyn Irene Madden was born July 29, 1935, in Burlington, Kansas, the daughter of Charles F. and Nora Ellen (Casey) Todd. She graduated from Burlington High School and on Aug. 22, 1954, she married Lloyd Eldon Madden in Topeka, Kansas. They were married 61 years before his passing Sept. 13, 2015. In 1975, Madelyn and her husband opened L&M Restaurant and Catering in Ottawa. They also owned and operated Madden Rentals. Madelyn loved her family, was an amazing cook and loved being around and watching her grandchildren play. She will be missed by all who had the opportunity in their lives to be touched by her sweet soul. She was small but mighty and was the definition of hard working, determined and a roll model for her children and grandchildren alike.

Madelyn is survived by her daughter, Ardith Bell, of Olathe; daughter and son-in-law, LaNita and Dennis Roberts of Ottawa; son and daughter-in-law, Royce and Sharon Madden of High Pointe, North Carolina; daughter and son-in-law, Marcella and Richard Daugharthy of Ottawa; son Milton Madden of Ottawa; daughter and son-in-law, Karolyn and Brian Mather of Lee’s Summit, Missouri; brother, Charles Todd of Gardner, Kansas; brother, LaRay Todd of Prescott, Arizona; 21 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Jayna Madden (2011); granddaughter, Cassie Madden (2001); and son-in-law, Jim Bell (2003).
