Betty Jo Mower, 88, of Wellsville, passed away Sunday, Aug. 5, 2018.
Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 9, 2018, at Wilson’s Funeral Home in Wellsville. Visitation will be 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday. Interment will follow services in the Wellsville Cemetery.
Betty Jo Mower was born Jan. 29, 1930, in Gravois Mills, Missouri, the daughter of Charles Elmer and Maudie May (Cole) Tombs. She graduated from Versailles High School in 1947. After graduation she worked for Montgomery Wards in Kansas City doing accounting work and later for Manor Bakery. On Nov. 4, 1950, she married Martin Eugene Mower and to this union, three children were born. They were married almost 68 years before her passing and Martin survives at the home in Wellsville.
After marriage, Betty spent her life being a devoted mother and farm wife. She had been on her farm in Wellsville since 1966. Betty was a wonderful cook and loved to travel with her husband. They wintered in Arizona and she enjoyed riding her bicycle. She loved her family and will be dearly missed by those who knew and loved her.
Betty is survived by her husband, Martin, of the home; son and his wife, Martin Eugene Mower, Jr. and Nancy of Gardner; son, James Dale Mower of Gardner; daughter Teresa Lynn Mower of Wellsville; four grandchildren, three step-grandchildren, five step-great-grandchildren and one great-grandson on the way. She is preceded in death by her parents, three brothers and an infant grandson, Sean McHugh (1990).
