Rodney L. Fritts, 83, of Ottawa, passed away Monday, Aug. 13, 2018, at Richmond Healthcare & Rehabilitation.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Friday, Aug. 17, 2018, at Dengel & Son Mortuary.

Family will meet with friends from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 16, 2018, at the mortuary.

Interment Stony Point Cemetery, Douglas County, Kansas.

Rodney was born on March 6, 1935, at Ottawa, Kansas, the son of Albert and Elise (Mulvany) Fritts.

He was a lifelong Ottawa resident.

He graduated from Ottawa High School with the class of 1952.

Rodney was united in marriage to Irma Cook September 8, 1953, in Ottawa. She survives of the home.

Survivors include four grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and four children, Anna Marie Fritts, Clinton Douglas Fritts, Rodney Wayne Fritts, and Jeffery Lee Fritts; and three siblings, Alberta Lee, Tommy Fritts, and Nelson H. Fritts.

Rodney was a lifelong, hard-working farmer in crops and livestock. He was employed for 30 years with the Lawrence Paper Company in production, retiring in the early 1990s.

He was a member of the North Baptist Church.

Rodney liked to tinker in his shop and garden, especially tomatoes and watermelon.
