Lester Lee Hutchison, 86, Princeton, passed away Friday, March 8, 2019, at KU Medical Center.

A celebration of life will be noon Saturday at VFW Post 5901, Ottawa. Graveside services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, March 21, 2019, at the Princeton Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made directly to the Franklin County Cancer Foundation.

He was born Oct. 13, 1932, in Harris, to James Robert and Merton Merle (Condit) Hutchison. Lester served the US Army from 1954-1956.

Lester married Margie Cecilia Summers, Feb. 17, 1956 in Aztec, New Mexico. They celebrated over 63 years of marriage. They were blessed with six children.

In earlier years, he worked in the oil industry in the southwest states. Lester was the Fogle Rock Quarry employee superintendent for over 35 years from 1962-1997. During his years of employment and after his retirement, he was a farmer, raised cattle and continued to do so until his death. Lester was a member of VFW 5901 & Masons Lodge in Fontana.

Lester was preceded in death by his infant son, James Robert; parents, James and Merton Hutchison; four brothers, Jimmy, Homer, Walt, Basil; four sisters, May, Evelyn, Louise, Fern; and infant grandson Harmon Christopher Peter.

He is survived by his wife, Margie Cecilia Hutchison, of the home; four sons, David Hutchison and wife, Teresa, Princeton; Alan Hutchison and wife, Jeanne, Ottawa; Loy Hutchison and wife, Andrea, Princeton; Pete Hutchison and wife, Briana, Ottawa; daughter, Christine Hutchison and husband, David Chambers, of Manassas, Virginia; former wife to David Hutchison, Barbara, Osawatomie; former wife to Loy Hutchison, Wendy, Ottawa; 10 grandkids and 12 great-grandkids; many close friends, family members, nieces and nephews.

Les was well liked and well-known throughout Ottawa and Franklin County. He enjoyed his coffee friends at Riverside Diner and McDonalds, taking grandkids fishing, giving tractor rides and volunteering time helping others troubleshoot machinery.
