Braves baseball sweeps Waldorf

The Ottawa University baseball team Sunday swept Waldorf College in Ottawa.

The Braves won 5-2 and 8-3.

Ottawa scored in the first and sixth innings of the opener.

Ottawa plated three runs in the first inning and two in the sixth.

Nick Deichler, who had a three-run home run in the first inning, had two hits. AJ Clayton smashed a two-run triple in the sixth inning to give Ottawa a 5-2 lead.

Senior Jacob Loucks won his third game on the mound. He had six strikeouts.

The Braves scored six unanswered runs in the nightcap. Waldorf led 1-0 after one inning and 2-1 after the top of the second inning.

Ottawa scored two in the third inning, one in the fifth inning and three in the sixth frame for an 8-2 lead.

Cole Horn went 3-for-4 with one RBI and a run scored. He stole home in the fifth inning.

Aaron Marshall had two hits with a run scored.

Cole Newell pitched all seven innings in the victory. He had 10 strikeouts.

Ottawa (4-6) plays 1 p.m. Wednesday at Evangel.
