OU softball wins 2 of 3 in tourney

WICHITA — The Ottawa University softball team went 2-1 Friday in the Friends University Tournament in Wichita.

Ottawa opened the tourney with a 13-1 win over Mount Mercy. Ottawa fell 7-0 to University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma.

Ottawa opened the tourney with a 13-1 win over Mount Mercy. Ottawa fell 7-0 to University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma.

The Lady Braves closed the tourney with a 2-1 win over Graceland.

Lydia Budke led Ottawa with five hits, five RBIs and a run scored in the win over Mount Mercy. Gabby Markham had three hits, including a home run. She was the winning pitcher with five strikeouts and allowed just one hit in six innings.       

McKenzie Sokolaski had the only hit for Ottawa in the loss.

Ottawa beat Graceland with a walk-off home run by Elsa Valenzuela. Paige Williams picked up her third win of the season.

Ottawa (6-7) plays 3 p.m. Wednesday at Nebraska Wesleyan.
