WHS sweeps CH in softball

WELLSVILLE — The Wellsville High School softball team looked to be in mid-season form Monday in its sweep of Central Heights in Wellsville.

The Eagles won 14-1 and 13-0.

WELLSVILLE — The Wellsville High School softball team looked to be in mid-season form Monday in its sweep of Central Heights in Wellsville.

The Eagles won 14-1 and 13-0.

“We scored a lot of runs with two outs,” Wellsville coach Chris Rose said. “We hit well.”

Wellsville scored four in the second inning and six in the third to put the opener away.

“We had a couple of big innings,” Rose said.

The nightcap saw the Eagles score three runs in the first three innings for a 9-0 lead.

“We got off to a good start,” Rose said. “The first five girls in the batting order had a great game.”

The offense was led by Moriah Kayhill, who had seven hits and six RBIs. Lauren McDaniel had seven hits and five RBIs. Tori Broers finished with four hits and three RBIs. Ashley Sparks had four RBIs in the opener.

Raegan Beckley and Kaylynn Peacock were the winning pitchers.

Wellsville plays Tuesday at Prairie View. Central Heights plays Tuesday at Anderson County.
