OU volleyball falls in opener

The Ottawa University volleyball opened the season Monday at home with a 3-1 loss to Benedictine.

Ottawa fell 20-25, 25-22, 25-20, 25-20, in Wilson Field House.

The serve was a big reason why the Lady Braves won the first set.

Keri Tanking had three straight aces to help the Lady Braves build the lead.

Christa Hill’s kill gave Ottawa the win.

Serving was at the forefront in the second set. Benedictine’s Patricia Moura connected on a number of aces. Errors hurt Ottawa in the third set.

Ottawa jumped to an early lead in the fourth set, but could not hold on as Benedictine rallied for the victory.

The Lady Braves (0-1) play Friday and Saturday in the Viking Invitational in Marshall, Mo.

Ottawa plays 2 p.m. Friday against Graceland and 8 p.m. versus Avila.
