Ottawa spikers fall to Eudora

EUDORA — The Ottawa High School volleyball team could not make it two straight over Eudora Tuesday in Eudora.

Ottawa defeated Eudora in three tight sets Saturday in the Frontier League Tournament. The Cardinals turned it around to knock off the Cyclones in four sets (25-13, 25-21, 23-25, 25-21).

Ottawa defeated Eudora in three tight sets Saturday in the Frontier League Tournament. The Cardinals turned it around to knock off the Cyclones in four sets (25-13, 25-21, 23-25, 25-21).

Ottawa came out slow and fell behind 12-0 in the first set.

“It is a huge challenge to overcome that large of a deficit,” Ottawa coach Laura Jeannin. “We went on runs throughout the match, but was never able to get the momentum on our side until the third set.

“We made some big plays in the third set that gave us the momentum to take the match to a fourth set. We fought hard in the fourth set, but we were not able to take control of the match.”

The junior varsity lost 25-12, 25-19, 15-5. Ottawa won the freshmen match 13-25, 25-18, 15-13.    

Ottawa (4-4) plays  4:30 p.m, today at Osawatomie.

Brette Moore: 13 kills.

Corie Fischer: 18 digs.

Brianna Yates: 12 assists.

Abigail Fangman: 10 assists.
