EUDORA — The Wellsville High School volleyball team took care of business Thursday in Eudora. The Eagles swept West Franklin (25-22, 25-20) and Eudora (25-18, 25-16).

West Franklin earned a split with a win over Eudora.

“The girls had a good night defensively,” Eric Evans said. “I can’t say enough about our team effort ... we didn’t take any plays off last night.”

West Franklin coach Angie Corwine said the Falcons played without emotion or focus.

“The match against Eudora was close because we didn’t communicate or work together as a team,” Corwine said. “We have to learn to be more vocal on the floor so that we become more cohesive.  We have taken a step backward in that department from last week. The match against Wellsville was close as usual.

“We were up 22-18 in the first set, and we didn’t score again. They scored the last seven points of the set. Wellsville flat outplayed us for the final seven points. We didn’t want it and they did. We came out in the second set with more emotion but couldn’t sustain and fell flat again. I’m disappointed in our effort, but we have to shake it off and learn from it.”

Wellsville plays Tuesday at home, while the Falcons (6-2) play Monday against top-ranked Olpe at home and Tuesday at Northern Heights.
