OHS tennis gets ready for regional

The Ottawa High School tennis team is preparing for next week’s regional in Spring Hill.

The squad played at home Monday and at Hayden Tuesday. Ottawa had a rough time in the home quadrangular with Ottawa winning just one match.

The squad played at home Monday and at Hayden Tuesday. Ottawa had a rough time in the home quadrangular with Ottawa winning just one match.

They all won a match at Hayden except at No. 2 singles.

“We are in a lot of matches,” Ottawa coach Eric Sparks said. “We are improving each day.”

He said the competition was good, which will help in the regional.

Ottawa plays its regional Friday and Saturday at Spring Hill. The top six singles and doubles teams qualify for state.

The field includes Atchison, Baldwin, Bonner Springs, De Soto, Sumner Academy, Perry-Lecompton, Miege, Spring Hill and Hayden.
