Area teams fall

Senior running back Tristan Davis piled up 116 yards on 25 carries in a losing effort as Central Heights fell Friday at home against Prairie View 18-14. Davis scored the Vikings’ first touchdown from two yards out during first quarter action. Junior wide receiver Chase Brown caught a 22-yard touchdown pass from senior quarterback Jordan Horstick in the second quarter.

Head coach Kent Schulte said miscues and penalties in the second half were ultimately the deciding factors for Central Heights.

Schulte said the Vikings racked up 70 yards off of 10 penalties during the game.

Central Heights (4-2) hosts Wellsville at 7 p.m. Friday.

Council Grove 39,

West Franklin 21

COUNCIL GROVE — Senior running back Josh Napper had 208 receiving yards off of eight receptions in West Franklin’s 39-21 road loss in Council Grove Friday.

“It was pretty new because we don’t throw a lot,” Napper said.

The game was knotted up at 14 at halftime, but head coach Seth Holmolka said that Council Grove picked things up offensively in the second half.

“We just couldn’t hold them off in the second half,” Holmolka said.

West Franklin (3-3) hosts Osage City at 7 p.m. Friday in Pomona.

Iola 38, Wellsville 20

IOLA — Junior running back Brett Osbern returned a kickoff 90 yards for a touchdown Friday in Wellsville’s 38-20 loss at Iola. Senior running back Landyn Holtwick added a 55-yard touchdown run.

Wellsville travels to Central Heights 7 p.m. Friday.

“It’s gonna be tough. They’re a physical team,” head coach Brad Burkdoll said. “They just lost to Prairie View, so they’re going to regroup, and we’re going to also.”
