Lady Braves win second straight

MCPHERSON — The Ottawa University women’s soccer team earned its second straight victory with a 3-0 win Saturday over McPherson College at McPherson Stadium.

The Lady Braves took a 1-0 lead on the Bulldogs in the 12th minute of play on a goal by Autumn Surage, her third of the season.

Neither team scored the rest of the half and Ottawa took a 1-0 lead into halftime.

In the second half, Destinee Evans scored off of a pass from Kallie Bindner to give Ottawa a 2-0 lead at the 72:18 mark.

The Lady Braves earned their third goal of the match on an own goal in the 78th minute.

The Lady Braves led in shots 17-4 and had a 7-3 advantage in shots on goal. Ottawa keeper Samantha Gitmed had three saves.

The Lady Braves (6-5-1, 2-1-1) play 5 p.m. Wednesday at home against Saint Mary.

Braves lose

The Ottawa men’s soccer team fell 5-1 to McPherson. The Bulldogs led 3-1 at halftime.

Ottawa tied the match 1-1 on a goal by Grant Keith. It was the only score of the match for Ottawa.

McPherson scored twice in the second half. McPherson led in shots 21-11 and had a 10-6 lead in shots on goal. Ottawa keeper Drinnan Sante had four saves.

The Braves (2-8-2, 0-1-2) play 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at home against Saint Mary.
