Hilliger receives academic award

Ottawa University senior receiver Jon Hilliger has been named to the Capital One Academic All-District 3 First Team.

Hilliger appeared in all nine games this season for the ninth-ranked Braves.

Ottawa University senior receiver Jon Hilliger has been named to the Capital One Academic All-District 3 First Team.

Hilliger appeared in all nine games this season for the ninth-ranked Braves.

He has 48 receptions for 641 yards and nine touchdowns.

Hilliger is averaging 13.4 yards per reception , 71.2 yards per game, and 5.3 receptions per game.

He is ranked 20th in the NAIA in total receptions (48), 24th in receptions per game (5.3), 30th in total receiving yards (641), 36th in receiving yards per game (71.2), 40th in total scoring (54), 19th in scoring per game (6).

Hilliger was named to the 2013 All-KCAC preseason team,  the 2013 Sporting News Preseason NAIA All-American Team and to the 2013 BSN Preseason NAIA All-American Team.

He was on the 2012 All-KCAC Academic Team, a member of the Dean’s Honor Roll and was on the Dean’s List.

Hilliger was named team captain for the 2013 season, a Resident Assistant and on the Ottawa football team’s Unity Council.

First-team Academic All-District® honorees advance to the Capital One Academic All-America® Team ballot, where first-, second- and third-team All-America honorees will be selected in November.
