Baker University in Baldwin City.

On Saturday, Ottawa fell to Benedictine, 81-68, in the final game of the Baker Classic.

The Ottawa and Baker contest was close throughout.

Ottawa fell behind 33-30 at the half.

Ottawa opened the second half with a 7-0 spurt to take a 37-33 lead. Baker answered with a 9-0 run for a 42-37 lead with 16:15 left.

Baker pushed the lead to 58-49 with 9:44 remaining, but Ottawa rallied within 63-62 with 3:39 left.

Ottawa took the lead at 65-64 on Mikayla Skidmore’s jumper with 1:31 remaining. Baker took the lead again at 66-65.

Amber Ramsey completed a three-point play to give Ottawa a 68-66 lead. Shauna McClure hit two free throws late.

Ottawa had five players in double figures, led by Ashley Romig’s 14 points and eight rebounds. Ramsey had 13 points and eight boards.

Skidmore and McClure tallied 11. Maddie Stewart tossed in 10.

Ottawa shot 37 percent from the field and was 22 of 31 from the line.

Ottawa had a rough second half against Benedictine. Ottawa led 41-39 at halftime, but was outscored 42-27 in the second half by the Lady Ravens.

Ramsey paced the Lady Braves with 15 points and five rebounds. Skidmore had 14 and McClure, 12.

Ottawa was cold from the outside, hitting three of 14 from behind the arc. Ottawa hit 25 of 33 free throws.

Ottawa (1-5) plays Friday and Saturday in the Saint Mary Classic. Ottawa plays 6 p.m. Friday against Columbia College.
