BALDWIN CITY — De Soto edged the Ottawa boys for the Frontier League championship Thursday at the Baldwin City Golf Course.

Travis Lutz was the Cyclone cross country team’s top runner, finishing fifth with a time of 17:36.94.

Ottawa placed second as a team with a score of 58, six points behind the first-place Wildcats.

The Cyclones beat Baldwin by seven points.

Ottawa’s two through four runners finished within a three-second time frame.

Ryan Keiter placed 11th with a time of 18:24.48.

D’Suan Gomez placed 12th with a time of 18:24.84, and Allec Rodriguez finished 13th with a time of 18:26.83.

On the girls side, Ainsley Curry ran a 21:31.18, placing ninth overall out of 77 competitors.

Ottawa is back in action at the 4A regional meet starting 10 a.m. Oct. 21 hosted by Burlington at the John Redmond Reservoir Dam.

Competing schools include Burlington, Baxter Springs, Chanute, Columbus, Fort Scott, Frontenac, Galena, Anderson County, Girard, Iola, Prairie View, Louisburg, Osawatomie, Paola and Parsons.
