MCPHERSON — Ottawa drew first blood, but ultimately fell on the road against the Bulldogs Wednesday.

Rufus McIlrath, sophomore defender, sunk a goal in the ninth minute assisted by Aaron Kavanagh, junior forward, to give the OU men’s soccer team an early lead.

McPherson’s Hernan Maldonado scored the equalizer in the 22nd minute in the first half, and Christopher Kelly gave the Bulldogs the lead in the 40th minute.

The Bulldogs scored twice within a two-minute period in the second half to secure the 4-1 win.

The loss ended a three-match win streak for the Braves.

Ottawa (5-6-1) plays 7:30 p.m. today at home against Bethany College.
