PAOLA – A first round loss ended the Lady Cyclone volleyball season short Saturday at Paola.

Ottawa High School fell to Spring Hill 25-22, 19-25, 25-10 during the 4A sub-state tournament hosted at Paola High School. Ottawa ended its season with a 17-20 record.

The top-seeded Louisburg Lady Wildcats were the eventual champions in the four-team sub-state. They beat Spring Hill 25-19, 25-17 to advance to state.

Kamryn Shaffer, senior, finished the season as OHS’s offensive leader, tallying 227 season kills. Darby Weidl made a large impact as a freshman, leading the team in serving aces with 37, and finishing third on the team with 205 digs. Allina Kerns, junior, was the team’s dig leader from her libero position, notching 284. Payton Bruce, junior, had 58 total blocks.
