What area girls cross country lacked in numbers this season it made up in talent. Runners represented Franklin County well into the postseason. This year’s all-area selections for girls cross country are:
Paige McDaniel, Wellsville junior
The strong runner from Wellsville earned a medal in all nine of her races this season, culminating in a 17th place finish at the 3A state meet. She was also crowned regional champion, and was an All-Pioneer League first team selection.
Lexi McDaniel, Wellsville freshman
The first-year prep runner earned All-Pioneer League second team honors, finishing 15th at league and 13th at regionals. She climbed to third place on Wellsville’s 5K Top Ten Girls list behind her two sisters, Paige and Lauren.
Molly Rossman, West Franklin junior
A strong junior year by Rossman was capped off with top finishes in the postseason. She placed ninth at the 3A state meet, runner-up at regionals and won the Flint Hills League meet.
