Jared Parenti finished first, and the Ottawa High School wrestling team finished fourth overall in its first weekend tournament of the season. The Cyclones had five place in the top three individually Saturday at the Raider Classic at Wamego High School.

Parenti, senior, won all five of his matches for first place in the 152-pound weight division. He topped Concordia’s Hunter Schroeder by a 7-1 decision in the first round, Wamego’s Riley Eveland by technical fall in the second round, Rock Creek’s Dayton Bittle by fall (0:53) in the fourth round and Cottonwood Fall’s Cael Budke by fall (0:37) in the fifth round. He beat Salina Central’s Kray True by fall (1:04) in the first place match.

The Cyclones found success in the lighter weights with both Kale Lane and Richard Blevins finishing second in the 106 and 113 weight divisions, respectively.

Lane (3-1) won against Herington’s James Willis, Concordia’s Sajen Kemling and Tonganoxie’s Dustin Robinson all by falls. His only loss came against Concordia’s Jordan Anguish.

Blevins (4-1) topped Salina Central’s Caleb Wiedeman, Tonganoxie’s Caleb Allen, Rock Creek’s Tanner Shoup and Herington’s Rhett Griffiths. His only loss came against Abilene’s William Stroda.

Daidrien Aho (4-1) took third place in the 160 weight division. He beat Hayden’s Eric Teske, Cottonwood Fall’s Caleb Stout and Concordia’s Layton Kindel all by falls. He lost to Abilene’s Dakota Laun before beating Salina Central’s Cayman Munson in the third-place match.

In the 195 weight division, Bret Ferguson (3-2) took third place. He won two of his three opening round matches, beating Falls City, Nebraska’s Jacobe Craine and Rock Creek’s Cameron Stanley, and losing to Tonganoxie’s Connor Searcy. In the championship bracket, he fell to Abilene’s Trey Hoerner by major decision, 10-2. Ferguson rebounded with a third-place match win over Falls City’s Keegan Hunzeker by a 3-2 decision.

Ottawa wrestles again Saturday at the Eudora Tournament at Eudora High School.

HOXIE — Two Central Heights wrestlers took second in their respective weight divisions in Hoxie Saturday.

Avery Stalford placed second in the 120 weight division, beating Oakley’s Eric Cain, Lakin’s Tito Tristan and Hugoton’s Suheila Rosas. His only loss came in his final match to Hoxie’s Dylan Weimer by a 3-2 decision.

Zack Grabbe placed second in the 152 weight division. He topped Plainville’s Brennan Staab and Oberlin’s David Waterman. He fell in the first-place match against Hugoton’s Bradan Slemp in a 5-2 decision.
