Central Heights got in a hole early, and couldn’t come up with the win Monday. A 49-31 loss to Iola sends the Lady Viking basketball team to a 6:30 p.m. showdown today with Kansas City Christian at home in the Ike Cearfoss Tournament.

Kansas City Christian lost to Osawatomie in the opening round.

Central Heights was outscored 11-4 in the first quarter, and 12-6 in the second to face a 23-10 halftime deficit.

Shelbi Hettinger was the team leader in scoring with nine points.

Iola handed the Central Heights boys basketball team its second loss of the season Monday. The Mustangs beat the home team 63-28 in the opening round of the Ike Cearfoss Tournament.

Central Heights (0-2) plays 8 p.m. today against Kansas City Christian, which lost 67-50 Monday against Osawatomie in the opening round.

Iola got up 42-10 against the Vikings after outscoring the team 17-4 in the first quarter and 25-6 in the second.

Bralen Bowker hit four of six field goals for Central Heights to lead the team in scoring with nine points.

Iola’s Ethan Holloway led all scorers with 17 points.
