The Bethel College men’s basketball team snapped a four-game losing streak, stopping Sterling College 95-90 Wednesday night in KCAC play at Thresher Gym.

Bethel posted its highest offensive output of the season, but did allow 90 points for the fourth time this year.

Down by seven in the opening minutes of the game, Bethel pulled ahead by three at the half, 38-35.

The Threshers led by as many as 10 in the first six minutes of the second half. The Warriors pushed back to within three, but Bethel responded with a 12-2 run. The Threshers still led by 10 with 2:15 to play, but the Warriors got back within three with five seconds to play. Chase Bannister hit two free throws for Bethel two seconds later.

Joe Rushing led Bethel with 30 points and 11 rebounds, followed by David Harris with 25 and Bannister with 14.

JaMiah Windom-Haynes led Sterling with 21 points and 15 rebounds. Trey Dubbert scored 14 points. Leye Oyatayo and Kody Crosby each scored 12 points for the Warriors, 3-8 overall and 1-5 in KCAC play.

Bethel is 3-8, 2-4 in KCAC play. Bethel faces Saint Mary at 5 p.m. Saturday in Leavenworth. The Spires are 6-6, 4-2 in KCAC play, after an 85-76 loss at Tabor.
