TOPEKA — The Lady Cyclones struggled in their first road game of the season.
The Ottawa High School girls basketball team hit four three-point shots in the first half and went into halftime down 24-16 at Topeka West High School Tuesday.
But struggles boxing out defensively mixed with the team’s leading scorer, Kamryn Shaffer, going down with an ankle injury doomed Ottawa in the second half.
Ottawa fell 48-32 for its second loss of the season.
Shaffer, senior forward, scored six points, five in the first half.
That left fellow senior Amanda Wray, guard, to pick up the slack offensively. Wray scored 10 points, nine in the second half.
The Lady Cyclones (1-2) will be back home for their 6 p.m. game Friday against De Soto.
Ottawa (32) — Wray 10, Shaffer 6, Titus 6, Lane 3, Jung 3, Evans 1.
