Ottawa University announced the signing of two student-athletes this week in Bradi Cayler and Zachary Kelsey.

Cayler is from Topeka and will play for the OU softball program in 2018-19.

A shortstop and pitcher, she lettered in softball at Washburn Rural High School. She was a 2017 MO/KAN All-Star nominee, a 2016 MO/KAN All-Star nominee from the Kansas State Tournament and a 2016 All-Tournament Team nominee at the USSSA National Championships.

“We are very excited to have Brandi joining our program,” Jay Kahnt, OU head softball coach, said. “We are getting a very good pitcher who knows how to get hitters out. She comes from one of the top programs in the state and we look for her to bring that winning mentality with her here. Brandi is an excellent fit into our program and the university.

Cayler is the daughter of Mark and Kimberly Cayler, and plans to concentrate on general studies before deciding on a major. She has two siblings, a twin brother Blake and an older sister Marisa.

Kelsey will join the OU men’s basketball squad in 2018-19. He is from Prairie View, Texas, and attends Waller High School.

Kelsey lettered in basketball at Waller High School, and competed in travel ball with RL9 under head coach Ken Gamble.

He is the son of Thaddeus Kelsey and Annette Kelsey, and plans to concentrate on general studies before deciding on a major.
