Behind 23 points by senior Hunter Lewis, the West Franklin High School boys basketball team slipped past Central Heights Tuesday.

The Falcons led 23-12 at halftime, but Central Heights came out strong in the third quarter, outscoring its opponent 13-6. West Franklin held on to win 39-35.

The Falcons shot 40 percent from the field (14-40), while Central Heights shot 28.5 percent (16-49).

West Franklin plays 7:30 p.m. Friday at Council Grove.

Central Heights plays starting Monday at Emporia in the Flint Hills Shootout.

CARBONDALE — Wellsville had four players score in double figures Tuesday in a win. The Eagle boys basketball team routed Santa Fe Trail 71-58 in Carbondale.

Zach Vance led the way for WHS with 23 points. Jackson Dwyer add 16 points, and both Luke Richards and Dawson Donovan had 10 apiece.

Wellsville took a 20-11 lead after the first quarter and a 37-25 lead at halftime.

Santa Fe Trail’s John Long led all scorers with 34 points.

Wellsville (3-3) plays 7:30 p.m. Friday at home against Iola.
