Ottawa University’s home wrestling tournament featured several high placings, including one first-place finish.

The OU women’s wrestling team hosted the Ez Flex Invitational Sunday at Wilson Field House and had four competitors place in the top four in their respective weight divisions.

Valeria Rivera, junior, wrestled her way to a championship finish in the 109 weight division. She went 5-0, topping Oklahoma City University’s Raven Guidry in her fifth and final match.

Cindy Vasquez, freshman, finished 3-1 and earned a second-place finish in the 155 weight division. Her only loss came by technical fall in the championship match to Lindenwood University’s Niauni Hill.

Addie Lanning, senior, finished 4-1 and placed third in the 143 weight division. She lost by technical fall in the semifinal match to Lyon County’s Elissa Douglass, but recovered to beat Missouri Valley College’s Julia Mata, and then MacMurray College’s Samantha Bush in the third-place match.

Victoria Norris, sophomore, earned a fourth-place finish in the 123 weight division, going 3-2. She beat Oklahoma City University’s Kilyn Ramos by fall in the consolation semifinals, but fell to to OCU’s Daniela Flores in the third-place match.

Ottawa University wrestles again Friday at the McKendree Bearcat Open in Lebanon, Illinois.
