DES MOINES, Iowa — A loss by a razor’s edge kicks off what hopes to be a strong season for Braves men’s volleyball.

Ottawa University, ranked fifth in the NAIA, fell in five sets, 16-25, 25-22, 18-25, 25-15, 14-16, to No. 2 Grand View University Wednesday in Des Moines, Iowa.

Daniel Jacobs, senior outside hitter, paced the Braves offense with 23 kills. Troy Lance, sophomore middle blocker, tallied six of Ottawa’s eight blocks.

OU (0-1) returns to the court 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. Thursday for the Grandview Tournament in Des Moines. The team plays Culver-Stockton College in the early match, and Saint Ambrose University in the late match.
