WELLSVILLE — Paige McDaniel and Demi Aamold combined for 12 of Wellsville’s 25 third quarter points in a blowout win Tuesday.

The Lady Eagles high school basketball team drubbed Prairie View 72-32 at home after allowing just 14 second-half points.

“I felt we started a little slow defensively, but picked it up in the second half,” Brock Campbell, WHS head girls basketball coach, said. “We did a great job of sharing the ball.”

Sydney Dwyer, senior, led all scorers with 19 points, 15 of which she scored in the first half. McDaniel, junior, and Aamold, sophomore, finished with 16 points and 13 points, respectively.

Wellsville outscored Prairie View 25-8 in the third quarter.

Waverly 59, West Franklin 54

WAVERLY — Despite 12 second-half points from Emilee Sheldon, senior, the Lady Falcons couldn’t pull out a road win.

The West Franklin High School girls basketball team fell 59-54 at Waverly Tuesday.

Sheldon scored 12 of her game-leading 16 points in the second half, but West Franklin fell short. Brooke Flory added 12 points for the Lady Falcons.

Waverly led 29-21 at halftime, and had a 44-37 lead at the end of the third quarter.

West Franklin plays Friday at Lebo.

Olpe 86, Central Heights 19

The Lady Vikings hung around for a quarter, but one of 2A’s top state teams broke away.

Undefeated Olpe thumped the Central Heights High School girls basketball team 86-19 behind 21 points from senior Brianna Vogts. Olpe’s Emma Miller, junior, added 19 points.

The Lady Eagles lead was 17-9 after the first quarter, but a second half surge put the game away for good. Central Heights was outscored 54-6 in the final 16 minutes.

Paige Stockard led the Lady Vikings with five points.

Central Heights plays Feb. 9 at Kansas City Christian.
