After starting the season 4-4, the Ottawa University men’s volleyball team has caught fire.

The Braves won two straight home matches over the weekend, and have now won eight of their last nine matches to improve to 12-5. Ottawa did not lose a set this past weekend, beating Lindenwood University-Belleville Friday 25-23, 25-21, 25-20, and Dordt College Saturday 25-18, 25-16, 25-20 at OU’s Wilson Field House.

Against Lindenwood, Ottawa fought back after falling behind 23-22 late in the first set. The Braves won the final three points off a kill by Daniel Jacobs, senior outside hitter, an attack error on Lindenwood and a service ace from Jacobs. From there, OU controlled the match.

Jacobs led the team in kills against Lindenwood with 14. Ike Nwachie, senior middle blocker, had 12 kills againt Dordt.

In both matches combined, Jacob had 23 kills, Cody Hermanson, junior outside hitter, had 18 and Nwachie had 17. Errol Basconcillo, senior libero, had 19 total digs, and Luke Pope, senior setter, had 71 total assists.

The No. 7-ranked Braves play 7 p.m. today at No. 5 Park University in Parkville, Missouri.
