Pratt High track and field competed at Augusta Friday. The boys team took 6th, the girls 7th.
The Pratt High School track and field squads attended the Augusta Invitational last Friday, a 12-school meet in which the Greenback teams both finished in the middle of the pack.
Andover ran away with the boys meet with 127.5 points. Andover Central was second with 75.5 followed closely by host Augusta 74. Pratt finished sixth (51.5).
On the girls side, Augusta defended their home track with 101 points. Andover had 90 with Andover Central right behind at 88. Lady Green was seventh with 28 points.
Pratt's boys scored well in the hurdles and field events. Brett Winsor was 1st in the high hurdles 16.08. Kadence Riner was 4th in the same race 16.95.
In the 300mH, Riner was 4th 46.4 and Winsor was 5th 46.5.
The only other event the Greenbacks tallied in on the track was the 4x100 relay, 5th 46.7 (Riner, Roadhouse, Sanchez, Blankenship).
Brett Winsor earned his second gold medal of the day in long jump 19' 11.5.
Dawson Snider placed in two throwing events: shot put 5th 39'5.25 and discus 5th 117'4.
Two Greenbacks medaled in javelin. Caden Blankenship took the gold with a stout throw of 170'11 and Andres Fernandez took the bronze at 149'8.
Three girls accounted for all of Lady Green's scoring on the day. Sian Helfrich placed in three individual events: First place in 300mH 52.3; second place in the 200m 27.8; and 4th place in the high hurdles 18.3.
Kaitlyn Rasmussen placed in two jumping events: high jump 4th place 4'10; and long jump 6th place 14'4.5.
Vanessa Leckner rounded out the PHS girls scoring with a 5th in the 400m 67.1.
The PHS thinclads will travel to Halstead Friday.
