A dominant performance evened up the Vikings record Monday at 5-5.

The Central Heights High School baseball team swept Lebo at home on Senior Night, 12-2 and 20-5. It marked the sixth time out of 10 games this season the Vikings have scored 10 or more runs.

Bryce Sommer, junior, had four RBIs, a walk and a stolen base in Game 1. The Vikings scored five runs in the bottom of the first, four in the third and three in the fifth.

They kept the bats hot in Game 2, scoring eight runs in the bottom of the second, sixth in the third and six in the fourth.

Sommer had three RBIs, three runs scored and two walks in Game 2. Seth Burroughs, senior, had three RBIs, two runs scored and two walks. All together, Central Heights scored 20 runs on 12 hits, and worked 12 walks at the plate. Kyler Brotherton, senior, and Jake Dunnivan both hit a triple in Game 2.

Central Heights plays today at home against Osage City.


The Lady Vikings got their first win on Senior Night, topping Lebo 6-5 in Game 1 of Tuesday’s doubleheader.

The Central Heights softball team got a walk-off walk with the bases loaded in the bottom of the seventh. Layla Bones, junior, walked Dakota Pendleton, freshman, in. This came after Lebo had scored two in the top of the frame to tie the game.

Seniors Lindsay Burson and Jasmine Clancy both had two RBIs. Juniors Charlize Robinson and Bones both had an RBI apiece, and Pendleton had two runs scored.

“Each game we are getting better,” Lea Stegner, CHHS head softball coach, said. “Our hitting is starting to get going and we are making plays on the field.”

Riley Roll, senior, got the win on the mound, pitching seven innings, allowing four earned runs while striking out one and walking two.

Central Heights (1-9) plays in its final home game of the season today against Osage City.
